A conversation with Mom...This week's blog focuses on our very special Mother's Day presentation. and with it very in depth hour long dialogue with Catherine, a young mother of two in our Red Tent OV group. A mother just like many of us learning the ins and outs of parenting. One of the things we want to stress is how important these conversations are. When we talk about things that matter, especially with there is deep dialogue it opens the space for healing, others and most definitely ourselves. Wherever your Mother's Day journey takes you, whether that is only a phone call, thinking about your mother, or to her home, perhaps a deeper conversation is in order. As a mother myself, the most important things often that my children can do with me is to really converse. That quality time is important. We wanted to share with you our questions from our latest Conversations and Coffee. We hope that they may also bring you dialogue with your own mother, or caregiver that raised you and find out if there are things that need to be said. In the sharing comes the growing, the connecting, the healing. Conversations and Coffee Interviews for Mother’s Day (for individual interviews) 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself? Name, (however much you want to share) what you do, your background, where you are from. 2. How long have you been involved in the Red Tent Movement? 3. What is a memory you have that sticks out in your mind about Red Tent the most? Memories of your motherhood journey and your own mother 1. When did you become a mother? What decade? 2. Do you think the time you were a young mother affected your experience as a mother? 3. What was your vision of motherhood before you went into it? 4. What surprised you the most after or even during pregnancy, or labor, delivery? 5. What is your memory of your mother? 6. How do you think that memory affected your motherhood? Prepared you, made you question etc.,? 7. What’s your favorite memory of your mother? 8. Did you have support around your parenting? Family, friends, community, country? 9. What is the average maternity leave time? 10. What time did you have? 11. What was the biggest challenge so far you have faced as a mother? 12. What’s your biggest victory? 13. What’s your favorite memory? 14. What advice would you give to new mothers? Or mother’s still in the thick of it. We hope wherever you are, even if that conversation, can no longer be had with your mom, that you remember each mother this week, and find some peace in your journey of parenting, and no, there are no perfect parents.
