My First Roleplay - "Once Upon A Farm"
Set 1, Once Upon A Farm, My first roleplay is designed to allow small children the ability to learn through dramatic play, in a single, or group roleplay situation. The teacher or caregiver is the guide only and can read the small stories, and the initial story to help students learn about the game as well as model a "round" one play through of the farming game. The story can be told in a large group during the modeling of the lesson, then do the lesson one-on-one with each child before bringing them back to play in a large group setting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the child progresses, they can do the expansion ideas from ideas 2 and three. This provides in many ways the three-part lesson ideal. A good voice and a bit of drama will help the child connect to the game.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The goal is to choose a farmer, any of the cards, with the coloured dots, and to have a soil patch, water bucket, seed barrel, and sunlight to grow your farm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actual large seeds such as pumpkin can be used with care, or coloured pom poms in yellow, blue, green and brown can be used as markers in the game. Children can use their hands, child-friendly tweezers, such as in Montessori, or small child-sized tongs can be used to pick up the markers and move them to the field.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each child will have a water bucket card, a sunlight card, a seed barrel card and the main piece, the soil patch card as well as their farmer and a set of materials, pom-poms, and or object markers (water, seeds, sunlight, soil) , in individual bowls or trays. You may want to do the rollout in small groups of 5 and have only 5 sets.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are multiple farmers for each child to choose one just for them. They can name them, perhaps starting first with their own name.
In Montessori, we use more reality in storytelling and roleplay with children under the age of 5. Fantasy is not normally begun until early elementary. Children are learning the relationship with self, family, community, and world in the early stages of development
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Body - Anatomy Set A-1-5
The teacher or caregiver is the guide only and can print, laminate, and arrange the lessons on trays or in a basket and tray to help students learn body parts.
This lesson is excellent for primary, elementary, and for ESL students.
- There is a small book about the body as well in the lesson, that can be printed and laminated and put together with brads or with a paper punch, ribbon, or yarn.
- Three-part cards are a Montessori concept and help to move a child along the concepts of concrete, iconic to abstract learning.
- There is a small song about the body for children or students to sing (chanting)
- Large Cards for the demonstration lesson
- and many extension ideas
A good voice and a bit of drama will help the child connect to any lesson.
Be purposeful in your carrying of trays, and materials, so that the child can also
learn the art of care for the environment, (classroom)
I suggest moving with the song to get the whole body engaged in learning and then
the cards to get the student into a focused lesson.

For ESL learning:
Even adults can benefit from some of the items from this lesson
as adults need hands-on and visuals as well. I lived overseas in Germany for four
years and often what was missing was interactive learning for adults. We do so much better this way.
I hope that you enjoy this material. Leave feedback and let me know how you have used the items in your classroom or home.
- Children are learning the relationship with self, family, community, and the world in the early stages of development.
- This lesson not only teaches about the self but starts the child down the early road to anatomy, language,
- sorting, classifying and so much more.
54-page PDF format for a whole range of lessons and expansions in this early start to our anatomy, through song, Montessori Materials, reading and language, and body movement, your child, or even your older ESL students will enjoy this learning activity. (Need more ideas about how to add this to an older ESL lesson? Send us an email at [email protected])
Watch for the slide show and audio/video read along to enhance your lesson. More books to be added this month!
