Learn the Alphabet in cursive and print, Kitchen Tools themed! Montessori language learning in handwriting begins as early as age three. They learn both cursive and print together. Why do we use cursive or D'nealian handwriting with print? Cursive is a much more fluid lettering system and it has been found that children learn with greater ease the letters that flow. Starting with sandpaper letters, this system works well. Consonants and vowels have colour-coding to help a child and these will work wonderfully with our moveable alphabet coming soon!
Print these out large to use with the moveable alphabet, or put them in a language center on the wall. Have the child trace them with their fingers, and have concrete objects of the items to show, some with supervision and learning when introducing a tool. Please use practical life safety. Never leave a child with a tool, they have not learned the safety portions. If you are uncomfortable with concrete objects, this is an excellent way to help children understand what we use in the kitchen.
